Walter William Lawson
Walter William Lawson, age 70, of Pendleton South Carolina, formerly of McHenry Illinois, passed away on July 7, 2026 after a courageous battle with leukemia.
Wally was born on April 18, 1956, to Victor and Alice Lawson in Evanston, Illinois.
After Wally graduated in 1974 from Evanston Township High School, he earned his Bachelors Degree at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb. After graduating from NIU, he worked in the glass and mirror industry for over 45 years, as general manager and glazier for Spring Hill and Lake Zurich glass companies.
Wally married Laurie Stute, his wife of nearly 43 years in 1983, and he and Laurie adopted their son Eric in 1995. They enjoyed their McHenry riverfront home and the boating life for many years, before relocating to South Carolina a few years ago.
Wally was an avid antique and custom car enthusiast, owning several various hot rods and other automobiles over the years, as well as belonging to car clubs.
He was talented in woodworking, cabinetry, and stained glass. He enjoyed water sports, and was a true fan of the Chicago Bears and Chicago Bulls.
His greatest joys in life were the adoption of his son Eric and the birth of his granddaughter Andrea.
He was predeceased by his parents Victor and Alice Lawson, his sister-in-law Cheri Stute, and nephew John Lawson Jr.
He is survived by his wife Laurie, his son Eric, granddaughter Andie, his brother John Lawson Sr. (Nancy), sister Janice Carlsten (Roy), brother-in-law Mark Stute, nieces and nephews Adam Stute (Elizabeth), Brian Stute (Mandi), Julie Lawson, Jeff Lawson, Julie Schmidt (Jim), Leah Baker (Scott), and Kim Brandt (Ben), and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
A Celebration of Life is planned in South Carolina in late August. Details on time and location will be forthcoming soon.
Another Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, in Illinois. Details will be posted at a later date.
