Sheryl Gaines Mayfield

March 23, 1951 - December 20, 2024

Sheryl Gaines Mayfield, beloved Mother Grandmother and Gigi, passed away peacefully on 12/20/2024 at the age of 73.

Born in Anderson to Grady Snook Gaines and Mildred Peterson. She always knew how to make everyone laugh. She spread her love in abundance to her family and friends and warmed so many hearts with her beautiful smile. Her most precious role in life was being Gigi to her great grandchildren.

She is survived by her children Tim Mayfield (Angi) and Wendy Looney (Chad) grandchildren Tayler Claudson, Katelyn Anderson (Thomas) Jimmy Ann Mayfield, Chase Holliday, Brittany Hoppus, Brylie Hoppus, and JT Hoppus, Great Grandchildren Remington Jones, Hampton Anderson, Huitt Anderson, Raiden Claudson, and Kingston Wells. Brothers Sammy Gaines and Ricky Gaines, sister Peggy Black(David) and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her great grandson Hudson Anderson, brothers Larry Gaines and Tony Gaines, sisters Barbara Brown and Deborah Parker, her parents Grady Snook Gaines and Mildred Peterson.

A Celebration of Life for Sheryl will be held in January. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Hospice of the Upstate, Anderson.

She was one of my favorite Aunts. Always smiling and truly amazing. Always loved spending time with my cousins at her house when I was younger. She will be missed.

My heart breaks for all of you in the loss of such a vibrant lady. We first met in grammar school & I have so many great memories of Sheryl. I loved her like a sister & could always count on her. I was there at her wedding & the birth of her children. We had a lot of good times together playing cards, sharing our families, heartaches & joys. We went fishing, camping, & to Disney World. Sadly, the last few years we drifted apart going in different directions in our lives but I will always cherish the memory of Sheryl & be grateful to the Lord for having our paths cross, my life was much richer & blessed for having known her.My thought s & prayers are with you all, love Cathy
