Peggy White Bellamy
Peggy White Bellamy passed at the Greenwood Hospice House in Greenwood, SC Aug 31, 2023. Born in Gaffney, SC October 12, 1937, she was a graduate of Limestone College and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill obtaining a Master’s degree in Library Science. She served as Librarian to many students in Myrtle Beach from 1960 to 1999. She was the Librarian at Coastal Academy, Myrtle Beach Jr. High and High Schools as well as Socastee Middle and High Schools. She loved sharing her joy for reading with the students whom she always called “her kids.” Her favorite job was being a wonderful “Mimi” to her grandchildren. She was an active member and teacher serving many years at First Baptist Church of MB. She was honored by the Myrtle Beach City Council for her service as a volunteer and Board Chairperson at Chapin Memorial Library.
She was preceded in death by her parents John H. and Ann Barnes White; her husband of 61 years, James A. Bellamy; her beloved siblings Betty Long of Gaffney; Mary McNeil of Jupiter, FL; Tom White of Mooresville, NC; and John H. White Jr. and Bill White both of Gaffney. She is survived by her daughter Ann Michelle Miller and her husband Dr. W. Robert Miller of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Mary Katherine Miller of North Palm Beach, FL; and Beau Miller and Harris Miller of Greenwood, SC. Also, surviving is her brother and his wife, Michael and Kathy White of Statesville, NC along with many special nephews and nieces.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
