Nan Ellen Bearden
June 26, 1945 - August 31, 2025
Nan Ellen Ray Bearden crossed over to be with her loved ones in spirit on August 31 after a courageous struggle with dementia.
She was 80 years old.
She is predeceased by her husband, Dr. Jack Bearden, an infant daughter, and her brother, Johnny Ray. The fifth child of the late Verna Fant Ray and John Franklin Ray, Nan is survived by her son, Seth Bearden; her daughter, Hayley Bearden; and three granddaughters. Also by six brothers and sisters: Sam Ray (Yolanda) of SC, Colleen Ray Hutchinson of SC, Genieve Ray Feldman of SC, Rev. George Ray (Trish) of FL, Becky Ray Cole (Bill) of SC, and Rachel Ray of Washington, DC. She was Aunt to fourteen nieces and nephews along with numerous grand nieces and nephews.
Nan adored her children Seth and Hayley. A native South Carolinian and true Southern belle, her taste in fashion and flirting was impeccable. She lived a life of exploration and adventure in Washington DC, Los Angeles, Beaufort SC, Belize, and the Yucatan, where her daughter Hayley was born.
Nan loved swimming in oceans, lakes, and rivers; hiking and biking; and listening to the music of Bob Dylan and Mario Lanza. With an undying passion for Nature and animals, she was a true child in the Kindergarten of God.
We will meet you again on that heavenly beach, Beloved Mom, Sister, Aunt Nan.
