Margaret Doane Herring Mangum
Margaret Doane Herring Mangum, 90, died on March 14, 2024, after a brief illness. She was born on October 18, 1933, in Wilson, North Carolina to the late Needham Bridgman Herring and the late Alice Farmer Herring.
Margaret is survived by her husband of 67 years, Robert Boyd Mangum, her daughter Melissa Langford and son-in-law Ken, and her son Boyd Mangum and daughter-in-law Elaine. Additionally, she is survived by six grandchildren, Anne Mackie (Sherrod), Elizabeth Farr (Matt), Bryan Mangum (Ashley), John Langford (Mimi), Caroline Strauss (Matt), and William Langford (Ginny Cohen); and nine great grandchildren, Rohen Farr, Ella Mackie, Rob Farr, James Langford, Bridge Strauss, Margot Langford, Beau Strauss, Kody Mangum, and Eli Mackie.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Alice Farmer Herring.
A memorial service honoring and celebrating Margaret’s life will be held at Grace Episcopal Church at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27th. The family will receive friends prior to the service, from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m., in the church parlor.
