Joyce Shaw
Joyce Imogene Shaw entered the eternal kingdom of Christ on December 6, 2023.
She was preceded in death by her mother Mary Ellen Franklin Shaw, her father Charles Leroy Shaw, her maternal grandparents, Gussie and Otis Arnold and paternal grandparents, Florence and John Shaw, step brother, Alpo, and her partner of more than 15 years Peggy Byrum.
Joyce was born in Westminster, SC and lived the majority of her life in Anderson, SC. She earned her high school diploma and a welding certification from the State of South Carolina, however preferred work in a variety of industries, including but not limited to healthcare, food and beverage, and cotton mills. She led a colorful life and was adored and loved by many. Her niece, Bobbie, described her Aunt Joycie as one that brought clarity and comfort to her throughout her life.
She is survived by her sister, Ellen Veronica Martinez; her step sisters, Cricket, Tiny and Debbie, all of Georgia; and her nieces, Bobbie and Mary Angelita; and nephew, Junior.
Joyce will be remembered for her love of rock n roll and adventurous spirit and staunch convictions of peace, love and freedom for all. Her family will hold a celebration of life memorial sometime in March of 2024 and ask that all whom remember her, donate to animal shelters and civil rights associations in her name in lieu of flowers.
