W Anthony Michael Martin
March 10, 1987 - January 15, 2023
W. Anthony Michael Martin, 35, of Anderson, South Carolina, passed away on January 15, 2023 after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. Anthony was born in San Francisco, California, on March 10, 1987. He graduated from Pendleton High School in 2005. He worked for Clemson University for the past six years.
He loved his family, football, and Jesus, not necessarily in that order. He was an avid fan of the San Francisco 49ers and the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Anthony met the love of his life, Lora, in 2011 at their workplace in Anderson, and they married in 2013. Their son, Jon Connor, arrived in 2019. Being a dad was his greatest aspiration. Anthony was dedicated to his wife and son. He spent countless hours playing with and napping with Jon Connor.
Anthony enjoyed watching football and professional wrestling. He liked horror movies and the works of Stephen King. His favorite band was Slipknot. He particularly enjoyed taking his sister, Tiffany, to a Slipknot concert. He liked the Beastie Boys. He also loved praise and worship music. One of his favorite movies was The Princess Bride.
Anthony loved to learn and enjoyed exploring new foods. He liked to watch Jeopardy! and lots of cool cooking shows. An unassuming man, he didn’t like to be the center of attention. Anthony was often found in the back at church being quietly helpful.
Anthony is survived by his wife, Lora Fisher Martin; son, Jon Connor Gregory Martin; mother, Monica Martin Kirk; sister, Tiffany Jean Kirk; step-brother, Chad Kirk; his grandmother, Carol A. Martin; uncles Bishop Lewis H. Martin Jr., Blane D. Martin, Kent M. Martin, Bruce K. Martin, and Troy K. Martin; aunts, Loretta Nichols, Carol Lynn Martin, Myra Martin, and Nancy Lynn Martin; numerous cousins and lifelong friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Wayne A. Martin; great grandparents, Lewis H. Martin, Sr. and Jean Marie Corsey Martin, and Jose Dolores Juarez; uncles Gregory D. Martin, Brad P. Martin, Darral C. Martin, and Jerry C. Miller; and aunts, Patricia R. Miller and Anita Martin.
A Celebration of Anthony’s Life will be held at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 515 S. McDuffie Street, Anderson, on Saturday, January 28, 2023 at 2 o’clock PM.

I am making a Memory Bear pillow and bear for you at the request of Hospice of the Upstate. I loved Wayne Martin, who sang in the Cancer Association's Choir of Hope for many years, as I did Carol. I was the executive director of the Cancer Association at that time. This red plaid shirt will make a lovely bear and pillow and will be extra special for me because I loved Wayne and Carol so.
