Ms. Fulmer was my 5th grade teacher for the 2001-2002 school year. I kept in touch with her for several years, at least through college. I remember she had us write in journals every morning and she would take them home over the weekend, write comments on each of our entries, and return them for us to read on Monday. It was so fun and one of my favorite memories of her class. I’m so sorry for your loss; I will always remember her as one of the best teachers I ever had.

Melinda is such a beautiful person, inside and out! She was a very bright light at The Gardens at Eastside, where she was especially kind and gentle to my mom, Rosemary Reed. May God comfort and lead Melinda's family in peace as you remember Melinda's exceptional life.

Melinda was a wonderful neighbor to me, and I tried to be a good neighbor to her. She and I attended many events at the Peace Center together. She watched my house when I was out of town and collected my mail and newspapers. She was a wonderful aunt to Kay's sons. She was always bragging about them.

I light a candle in remembrance of the light Melinda was to countless students, and the world can never have too many teachers of her ilk. And the beautiful thing about teachers is that that light goes endlessly out into the world, even as they have left it, in the lives of her students--and likely many a life outside the classrooms. That's just what a gifted teacher does. Janet and Kay, I know how very proud of her you were. And I can assure you that the care and love you brought to her life was cherished. Heartfelt condolences to you and all who knew and loved Melinda.
